Exam Pattern
The CIA examination is given in a computer-based format and is offered at Prometric Testing Centres located throughout the world.
Part 1: Essentials of Internal Auditing

100 Questions | 2 hours Duration | Objective type
Part 3: Business Knowledge for Internal Auditing

CIA Certification
To be eligible for CIA license, you must fulfil all of the following requirements:
- Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or higher
- Candidates must pass all the 3 CIA exam parts
- Have to meet the work experience requirements(based on the entry method). Work Experience can be in Internal Audit, Quality Assurance, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, External Audit, Internal Control.

Target Audience / Who is this program for:
To be approved into the CIA program, the candidate must either:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, or
- Hold an active Internal Audit Practitioner designation, or
- Possess five years of internal audit experience, or
- Be an active student in your final year of college, or *
- Be an active student with an approved Internal Audit Education Partnership (IAEP) school.*

Each Exam Section is graded on a scaled score of 25-750, with a score of 600 being required to pass. Objective questions are mechanically graded and must be answered correctly to receive credit

How much does the CIA Exam cost?
Exam costs depend on IIA Membership as well as student status:
- IIA Members pay a membership fee of $250, an application fee of $115, and exam registration fees of $280 (for part 1) and $230 (for parts 2 and 3, individually), totalling $1105.
Non IAA members pay an application fee of $230 and exam registration fees of $395 (for part 1) and $345 (parts 2 and 3, individually), totalling $1315.
- Students pay an IIA membership fee of $40, an application fee of $65, and exam registration fees of $230 (for part 1) and $180 (for parts 2 and 3, individually), totalling $695.
